Instructions for Your FFAT Permit Purchase

Thank you for purchasing an FFAT Permit. To ensure a smooth process, please take note of the following important information:

  • All sales are final. Please double-check your order before completing your purchase, as we cannot issue refunds.

  • Permits are issued per rider, not per vehicle. To access permitted trails, each and every person on the vehicle (both the operator and all passengers over the age of twelve) must carry a valid permit. Please be prepared to present your proof of permit to Law Enforcement and/or FFAT personnel upon request. Persons age twelve (12) and under are not required to purchase a permit.

  • We cannot accept Pay Pal Express Checkout as a payment provider. For a swift and secure checkout, we encourage you to use a credit card.

  • Permit delivery: Your permit number will be sent to the email address and/or mobile number you provided during checkout. For the best experience, we highly recommend providing a email address for automatic permit delivery.

  • Proof of purchase: Once you receive your permit number, it's essential to save it for validation purposes. We encourage you to take a screenshot of the permit number or write it down. You will need to show this to an official upon request.

  • Permit validity: Your permit is valid immediately upon purchase. The time period for use begins the moment your transaction is complete.

To show our gratitude, First Frontier Appalachian Trails offers a 50% discount on all ANNUAL TRAIL PERMITS for our military community. Any of these forms of ID may be emailed to orders@1stfrontier.org for verification prior to placing your order. Limit one discount code per customer, per year.

Accepted Forms of ID:

  • Active Duty, Reserve, or Guard
    Military ID (CAC)
  • Veteran ID Card (VIC) or Veteran
    Health ID Card (VHIC)
  • State Driver’s License with
    "Veteran" designation
  • DD214 or discharge paperwork

Note: For security and privacy, our staff will only verify your ID visually.

We do not keep copies of military identification on file.

Upon approval, qualified individuals will receive a discount code through email. Approved customers may renew their annual permit upon expiration.
